This is the Bio/Resume of one of the most highly respected DJ's of our
time. The great knowledge he possesses of his craft as well as his
tremendous track record has overwhelmed the hip-hop game for years.
Let's go on a journey to see what
DJ S&S has meant to the game of HipHop.
In 1993, his rise and input as a mix-tape DJ was very well received by
the streets as well as his peers; the phrase "Change the Game" is an
understatement to describe him. S&S tapes introduced what every mix-tape
and radio DJ
does now, which is get exclusive music. That's what carried his name out
of town, as he began to be recognized as one of the great ones to the DJ
world.
By 1994, S&S controlled the mix-tape game helping the likes of "Biggie
Smalls", Black Moon, Redman, Naughty by Nature and others. Not only did
he rule
the tape game, he started to take over the party scene as well. Hooking
up with his
former manager Bizmont Ent., S&S started doing all the annual
Homecomings at the
best colleges in the United States (to many to mention). As the year
1994 ended, the change from east coast music to west coast music didn't
have any effect on S&S's grip on the mix- tape game. He was the first to
introduce us to the rap phenomenon Snoop Doggie Dog with . That shook up
the tape game so much that NYC's Hot 97's DJ Enuff said, "S&S made this
tape that shut down the mix tape game down for 6 months. As 1995 came in
the name "S&S" was heavy on the streets & colleges all over the USA and
that continued thru 1999 when S&S released his first independent album .
Riding the success of the album S&S ventured into the radio world, doing
spot dates on NYC's Hot 97 with then morning show host Ed Lover and Dr.
Dre. In 2001, he started DJ'ing for The Wendy Williams Experience on
NYC's WBLS and while there he was responsible for breaking then new
artist, Ashanti's 1st single "Foolish". After leaving the Wendy Williams
show his record breaking power didn't stay behind at the station. He
used his power in the NYC club circuit to help break another new artist
Nelly with his 1st single "Country Grammar".
Nelly appreciated his support so much so that he asked him personally to
be the tour DJ for his 35 state arena tour for his 2nd album in 2003.
While on the tour he shocked everyone with his energy, microphone
presence and knowledge of local records that he would play to hype up
the arena and stadium crowds no matter what city they were in. He also
did the after party's in all the city's, one of the most memorable
nights was when they were in Memphis, Tennessee. Not only did he kill
the arena to set up a great performance by Nelly, he also killed the
after party in a way no other DJ could. Nate Bell PD of NYC's Power 105
said "That party was talked about for a full year after It was done;
damn he's a bad mutha!"
Personal Accomplishment:
With all that you have heard we haven't began to name the countless P. Diddy b day parties and his All White Party in the Hamptons, Super Bowl,
NBA Allstar, Memorial, Labor and 4th of July weekends that he has left
his mark. There was a 4yr run in Cancun where he was responsible for
exposing and breaking plenty of records but, there is one in particular
that stands out the most, that would be the summer he broke the record
"Lean Back"; it meant so, much because it was done in a time the south
ruled the music scene. He was also selected by Grandmaster Flash and Red
Alert to DJ on VH1's first HipHop Honors Awards Show. He DJ'ed on stage
with Grandmaster Flash, Kid Capri, Kid Rock and Dougie Fresh; then ESPN
asked him to host this show called "The Life". That too was the very
first show, he was on the show with football great Eddie George which
Eddie was quoted saying "S&S mix-tapes got me thru college." Eddie even
had one of his S&S's mix-tapes resting along side his Heisman Trophy.
S&S has also been on BET over 50 times If you add up Rap City & 106 &
Park. So, with that being said there aren't many DJ's to accomplish the
things he has without having is own radio show. S&S has been
thought of by many as the most underrated DJ of our time but this has
not stopped his progress. He recently has done the BET Awards After
Party and the grand opening of the MGM Grand on the east coast. Today
you can still find S&S in the top clubs and the best parties around the
country just as he did in 1993.
To end this the right way, if there was a person who would pass on DJ
S&S they must be happy with being number two!
