THREADZ
NOT YOUR AVERAGE URBAN STREETWEAR

"Dressed to impress, spark the people's interest..." Is the vibe you get when you walk into Tacoma, WA's newest high fashion urban clothing store, Threadz. Store owners Rocco and Tyrone Thorn had the right idea when deciding to bring the hottest and latest high fashion urban wear to us in the Pacific Northwest. Though most of the latest fashions eventually reach us, because everything out right now has the urban theme. We still lag behind when it comes to the high end of urban fashion. Ladies if you are looking for that bubble gum pick fur you seen in the most recent Cash Money video, Rocco says; "Holla atchya Boy!" After a brief stint with the fellas from Grind and Hustle and not seeing the results of expectations, with like minds Rocco and Tyrone took another stab at the retail game.
As you walk in you are greeted with a very professional atmosphere. I immediately took notice to the décor all the way down to the smallest of detail. Threadz hanger game is even on point you know no expense was spared to provide the right professional appeal.
"I really went out for the appearance of the store to look right, it cost me but I know in the end it will pay off." With that being said I feel secure when saying these two men are not taking styling you and I as hobby, this is something they want and planned to do for the long term. This is not some here today gone tomorrow business venture. "I do a lot of traveling to make sure I am up on my style and fashion game." Says storeowner Rocco.
LaDessa: What made you want to open your own store?
Rocco: We spend so much money on clothes it was time we started spending with ourselves. Just based on the response I get from people about my own personal style I knew I had a good eye for what is hot. I am not new to retail, myself and three other friends used to have a store called "Urban Gear" that did very well during its time of business, I am hoping for the same success with Theadz.
LaDessa: How long have you been in business?
Rocco: We opened August 7th 2003, so it's been about two months now.
LaDessa: Since opening how has business been?
Rocco: We're maintaining.
LaDessa: How are you getting the word out?
Rocco: We're always promoting, at churches, local community league games, networking with Seaspot, flyers, word of mouth from family and friends. When we have our official grand opening we are going to do a parking lot party with KUBE 93.
LaDessa: Are you all suffering from the 'C'mon man hook me up' routine?
Rocco: Not at all because I am all for pushing my product, I would much rather get rid of the clothes then have them go out of style or having a blowout sale. Simply put don't worry I got you.
Keeping the locals geared is not where it stops for these young entrepreneurs, community involvement is high on their list of priorities. They have made many contributions to the local sports teams in the surrounding area. Be on the look out for the third and fourth grade boys basketball team "Future" to be sporting the Threadz name on the back of their team jerseys. With the futuristic vision of both Rocco and Tyrone, expect them to have a long run of success and if they continue on the plan they have laid out right now. You should be seeing more from Threadz in the future.
