Gameplay:
Three modes of play are
available: story mode, battle mode, and survival mode.
In Story mode, the player
begins at the first level and progresses as he continues to
defeat his opponents. Each level is controlled by a "boss", so
the player has to fight 2 or 3 thugs and then challenge the
boss, which in most cases is an artist character. The goal is
to get to the final level (which is the Def Jam level) and
beat D-Mob
In battle mode, the player
battles one on one with another opponent or the computer.
However, a player can only play as character once he's beaten
that character and unlocked him. For example, if a player
completes the first level which is Scarface's level, then whne
he wants to play in Battle mode, he will be able to play as
Scarface.
In Survival mode, the
player plays against the computer and goes through a
consecutive series of fights with all characters.
Artist
involvement:
All artists included in the
game came to the studio to do voice overs and describe the
special moves they wanted for their characters. Each artist
told the development team what they wanted to wear, and what
they wanted their venue to look like.
Most levels are artist
specific. So, Scarface fights in an underground casino, DMX in
a junkyard, etc...

Front: OH MY GOODNESS
Description:
From a front grapple, he
grabs the opponents arm, flips him over his shoulder onto the
ground so the opponent is laying prone on his back. From
there, he puts an arm bar on his opponent and dislocates his
elbow; then finishes it off with an elbow drop to the head.
Rear: SYCHOSYMATIC
Description:
From a rear grapple, he flips his opponent onto his stomach,
jumps onto his back, grabs his ankles and breaks his back
(think reverse
boston crab).
Then, still sitting on his back, Keith grabs his opponents'
head with his feet, picks him up and slams him into the
ground.

Front: THROW DEM BOWS
Description:
From a front grapple, Ludacris punches his opponent in the
face, then elbows him in the face twice, then jumps up and
does an elbow drop to knock his opponent down on the ground.
After which, Ludacris does a double elbow drop to the back of
the opponents head and knocks him out.
Rear: LUDACRISIFICATION
Description:
From a rear grapple, Ludacris lifts his opponent up in front
of him, then knees his opponent in the spine, spins him around
and then does a back flip while holding onto his opponent. At
which time, he lands on his opponent, face down ready to eat
dirt.
Front: A
REAL G
Description:
From a front grapple, WC
dazes his opponent with a head butt, and then performs a
C-walk. After which he throws down a huge haymaker and knocks
his opponent out.
Rear:
STAKIN' TURF
Description:
From a rear grapple, WC picks up his opponent and puts him on
his shoulders. After which he presses him up into the air
several times, spins around and then slams him into the
ground.
Front:
RUFF RYDERS ANTHEM
Description:
DMX kicks his opponent at arms length, upon which he runs up,
flips into the air and grabs his opponents' head with his
legs. After which, he slams him into the ground and snaps his
neck.
Rear:
DISHRAG
Description:
From a rear grapple, DMX elbows his opponent in both arms
dislocating his elbows. After which, he grabs his opponents'
neck and snaps it.
Front:
HAMMER THROW
Description:
From a front grapple, Scarface kicks his opponent in the
stomach making him keel over. From there he picks his opponent
up over his head and slams him down into the ground. Once he's
assured his opponent is out cold, he grabs him by the legs and
twirls him around. After his momentum is high enough he lets
go and sends him flying.
Rear:
CHICKEN WING
Description:
Scarface grabs his opponent in a rear chokehold; once the
opponent starts to beg for mercy, Scarface picks up his
opponent in the same chokehold and slams him into the ground.
Front:
SPLITTING HEADACHE
Description:
From a front grapple, Ghostface picks his opponent up by his
head with two hands. Then he knees him in the groin, and sends
him flying with a head butt.
Rear:
GHOST SHOWER
Description:
From a rear grapple, Ghostface lifts his opponent up over his
head and drops him behind sending his opponent to the ground.
Still holding onto his legs, he jumps up into the air and pile
drives him into the ground for the big knockout.
Front:
PUSHOVER
Description:
From a front grapple, Capone throws a flurry of punches to the
face and body to the point where the opponent becomes dazed.
At that moment, Capone gets ready to throw a haymaker to knock
his opponent out, but instead he walks up and pushes him over
with his finger.
Rear:
PUNCHING BAG
Description:
From a rear grapple, Capone jumps onto his opponents back and
hammers the back of his head. Still holding onto his opponent
with his legs, Capone swings around to the front and begins to
throw haymakers. For the final knockout, Capone does a back
flip and pile-drives his opponent into the ground.
Front:
NOTHIN'
Description:
From a front grapple, NORE picks his opponent up and slams him
face first into the ground. Upon which, he jumps off his body
into the air, and does a double elbow drop into the groin. To
add insult to injury, he then kicks his opponent in the head.
Rear:
PERCOLATOR
Description:
From a rear grapple, NORE grabs his opponent and whips him
into a spin, after which he throws a cross square into his
opponents face and then finishes him off with a head butt.
Front:

JERSEY
Description:
From a front grapple, Joe sends his opponent reeling with a
flurry of punches to the stomach. After which, he knees
opponent in the groin, gives his opponent a head butt and then
sends him packing with a reverse sleeper grapple.
Rear: HELL
RIDIN'
Description:
From a rear grapple, Joe grabs his opponent by the head and
swings around to gain momentum. At which time, he throws his
opponent, and slams him into the ground.
Front:
METHALIZE
Description:
Methodman grabs his opponent and flips him up onto his
shoulders. Bent over his back, Methodman then tortures his
opponent by jumping up and down trying to break his opponents'
back. Once confident his back broken, method man flips his
opponent back up and sends him to the ground with a pile
driver.
Rear:
METHOD 2 MADNESS
Description:
From a rear grapple, Methodman punches his opponent in the
back sending him to the ground. After which he picks him up by
the ankles and lifts him up over his head; then slams him into
the ground face first.
Front:
BALLS TO THE WALL
Description:
Redman picks his opponent up by the neck and lifts him up in
front of him. From there he repeatedly punches his opponent in
the groin. After which he throws his opponent facedown into
the ground and finishes him off with a running kick to the
crotch.
Rear:
JERSEY
TURNPIKE
Description:
From a rear grapple, Redman kick flips his opponent into the
air and then kicks him as he lands.
Front:
THROWIN WEIGHT AROUND
Description:
From a front grapple, Funk kicks his opponent in the stomach,
picks him up and slams him into the ground. After which, he
picks him up again and throws his opponent backwards slamming
him into the ground again.
