The party opened up with Hot
Rod from Tacoma and E-Dawg and Split-50 getting the house
pumped up.
Blu Cantrell and B2K cancelled their appearance with the
birthday party disappointing many young girls in the
audience, but they got over it quickly.
The KUBE team came on stage and got the audience pumped up
for the first performer to hit the stage--Missy Elliot and
her hot crew.
Missy came up on stage with her partner who was hooking up
her lyrics. She started her show by asking “how many freaky
people are up in Seattle?”
After the crowd started to go wild with anticipation, she
launched into her song “Get Your Freak On.” Everyone started
getting freaky.
Missy announced to the audience she was going to come down
and kick it with them, so she took off her necklace and her
other valuables and started down into the audience when
everyone rushed her.
While she tried to get through the audience without too much
trouble, she started to get mauled by the many fans and had
to go back up to the stage.
“I was not going to come tonight with all that is going on
in the world, but after I got the invitation to come, I had
to come,” Missy said. “I have to take this part of the show
to give my tribute to August 25th –my sister, Aaliyah. I
have to also pay tribute to Biggie, 2Pac, Lisa “Left Eye”
Lopes, Jam Master J, and Big Pun.”
The crowds pulled out their lighters and waved them side to
side as she sang “Back and Forth,” by Aaliyah and gave a
shout out to the troops serving overseas.
Her crew then broke into “Gossip” and the little girls from
the video came out on stage to show their moves which the
crowd thoroughly enjoyed seeing.
She then broke into “Reverse It” and all the dancers came
out onto stage to show what they could do.
The audience was going crazy at this point as the break
dancers showed their skills on stage and the little girls
came back and showed why they are in the videos.
Missy concluded her act by giving her audience much love and
wants to come back to kick it in Seattle.
The next act to come to stage was Tyrese.
While the sound was off and there was some microphone
trouble, Tyrese kept it moving and showed off his pipes to
the crowd.
Tyrese started into “Sweet Lady” and the females in the
audience went wild and almost lost their minds as he asked
them to sing along with him as he posted up on the corner
speaker.
He showed the ladies what he was made of as he invited them
onto the stage to sing with him. Unfortunately, security
didn’t allow them to come onstage.
Tyrese kept his show moving by starting his semi-strip tease
for the ladies in the audience. The females again went wild
as he started into “How You Gonna Act Like That,” and really
showed off his vocal skills as he took the song to another
level.
After finishing his last song, he wanted to stay for an
encore, but due to the KUBE’s schedule, he got offstage, but
not before giving his love to the Seattle audience and
thanked them for making his album number one.
The final act of the night was Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony.
They took over the stage with their quick flowing lyrics and
smooth beats, showing why they are still a presence in the
hip-hop scene.
As Bone Thug called Seattle out to party with them, they lit
up their joints because they were told they couldn’t smoke,
but declared it didn’t make them true thugs if they didn’t
light up, so they did it anyway.
As they invited the audience to take a chronic break with
them, encouraging everyone who was a true chronic to join
in, the Key Arena filled up with the smell of chronic as
they broke into one of their “high” songs.
The audience joined in once again breaking out their
lighters to show their appreciation of Bone Thug keepin’ it
real.
The next song they broke into was their hit “Crossroads”
paying tribute to those who have gone on before and to our
troops overseas. Once again, the crowd was on their feet
singing along with them.
Their final song, a debut from their latest album, sampling
a Phil Collins hook “Take Me Home,” promises to be a hit for
them as the crowd responded enthusiastically to the song.
As they started to conclude the show, the females were
invited to come up on stage and party with them, but
security wouldn’t allow it, so they had to make due with the
few females who were able to get up on stage.
Their DJ ended the show with his fast fingers and nasty cuts
on the turntables.
KUBE 93’s birthday party was a huge success filling up the
Key Arena almost to capacity.
