Singer/songwriter Darrius Willrich has been a standout in the Seattle music scene for several years.  Willrich has performed with local groups like Source of Labor, Jambalaya, and Plush Sage, while opening for acts such as Public Enemy, Earth Wind & Fire, and Tyrese.  Dude taught him self to play piano by ear, and even earned a degree in Jazz Piano.  Darrius is showcasing his wide array of musical talents on his 2nd album, Love Will Visit.  This is they type of CD that the fellas will wanna play when you have your lady coming to the crib and you wanna set the mood right.  You know, whip out the champagne and strawberries, pop in Love Will Visit, and the rest will take care of itself.

Love Will Visit gets kick started with the first track “Search For The Day”.  Willrich’s silky smooth vocals are a perfect compliment to the melodic guitar on this joint.  The title track is more up-tempo and really shows off Darrius’ skills on the keyboards.  Darrius croons “…just like an old friend, love will visit once again”, and the vibes solo is reminiscent of old school Roy Ayers joints.  “Who You Are” and “Your Love” are passionate ballads, while “Who On Earth” is another slow jam that accentuates Willrich’s talents on the Fender Rhodes.  Willrich’s jazzy soulfulness shines on the smooth “Still” and “Just Wanna Know”.  My idea of a love ballad is “You’re All I Need” by Meth and Mary J, so all the slow jams on Love Will Visit is a bit boring for me. However, listen to the CD once, and you will see that the brotha’s talents cannot be denied.   Darrius is a throwback to classy singers like Al Jarreau, while possessing the neo-soul flavor similar to cats like Maxwell or Musiq.  Willrich has a sophisticated sound that is enhanced by his excellent piano playing ability.  His experience working in different music genres make Darrius a musical chameleon.  He could easily go the mainstream R&B or contemporary jazz routes and succeed at both.  Love Will Visit is a thoughtful, romantic album that should propel Willrich’s career to the next level.  For more info about Darrius Willrich, check out his website at www.darriuswillrich.com.
