Federal agents
recently staged a raid of Jermaine Dupri’s Atlanta home. The feds
seized furniture, computers, and some of JD’s cars due to back taxes
owed. The IRS claims that the multi-platinum selling producer owes
over $2.5 million to Uncle Sam. JD won’t be broke for long though,
as he is set to announce a huge deal that will bring his So So Def
label to Arista Records.
Ashanti cleaned
house at Monday’s Billboard Awards in Las Vegas winning a total of
eight awards. Murder Inc’s princess of hip-hop and R&B took home
Female Artist of the Year, Top New Pop Artist of the
Year and R&B/Hip-Hop Single of the Year for “Foolish”. Nelly came
in second, taking home six trophies including Artist of the Year,
while Eminem also held it down with two awards. The ceremony was
capped off with an all-star tribute to Jam Master Jay. Aerosmith
legends Steven Tyler and Joe Perry joined the likes of Busta Rhymes,
Queen Latifah, Nelly, and Ja Rule to honor the late Run DMC DJ.
A 21-year old
Toronto man was murdered outside the video shoot for Sean Paul’s 2nd
single “Get Busy”. The victim was apparently shot when he pulled up
in his white Range Rover, and then shot again when he stepped out
the SUV. The still at-large suspects allegedly sped off in a
Mercedes SUV after the shooting. Sean Paul did not witness the
shooting and is not connected in any way to the incident.
Marshall And Kim Back
Together?
The NY Post
reported that Eminem and his ex-wife Kim Mathers have gotten back
together. The couple married in 1999, but Em filed for divorce in
2000 after Kim’s attempted suicide. Kim then sued Eminem for $10
million because of the song “Kim” from The Marshall Mathers LP.
Em’s grandmother first reported the couples’ alleged reconciliation,
citing that Marshall wanted a stable family life. Em must really
want stability bad, because he’s getting back with Kim despite the
fact that she’s already had a 2nd kid with another guy,
and she’s getting $52,000 a year in child support.
4Tay’s 14-year
old daughter was recently found after being missing for two weeks.
The San Fran-based MC got little to no support from the authorities
in the search for his daughter. Cali has its “Amber Alert” system
to help locate missing children. Apparently, this system was not
used, and 4Tay go no support from the Bay area media, including
local hip-hop station KMEL. Despite the media’s lack of attention
to the matter, 4Tay got help from thousands of local kids, who
helped pass out flyers. 4Tay’s daughter was finally found after
spending two weeks in nearby Berkeley.
