B. Brown Arrested Again

The original R&B thug Bobby Brown finds himself in legal trouble once again following his arrest in Atlanta last week.  Brown was pulled over in the ATL’s Buckhead section for speeding late last Thursday.  Police also charged the former New Edition star with driving without a valid license and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.  Brown, who was released after posting bail, could face a fine or jail time.   

J. Lo Officially Announces Engagement

Jennifer Lopez confirmed that she is engaged to actor Ben Affleck in an interview set to appear on ABC’s “Primetime” on Wednesday.  The couple has yet to announce a date, but J. Lo is already rockin’ a fat pink diamond engagement ring.  All I can say is J. Lo if you read this, holla at me if Ben ain’t treating you right.

8 Mile Rakes In $54.5 Million On 1st Weekend

Eminem’s new movie killed the competition in its first weekend out.  “8 Mile” pulled in $54.5 million, which was the most an R rated flick made since “Hannibal” came out in 2001.  “8 Mile” bumped “The Santa Clause 2” out the top slot, earning more than twice as much as the holiday film made on the same weekend.  Em is getting rave reviews for his portrayal of a white MC trying to make it in Detroit’s underground hip hop scene.  The movies’ soundtrack is also #1 on the Billboard albums charts currently.   

Russell’s Def Poetry Jam Set To Hit Broadway

After two successful seasons on HBO, Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam will be making its debut Broadway run, with shows playing six days a week.  Beau Sia, Black Ice, Staceyann Chin, Steve Colman, Mayda Del Valle, Georgia Me, Suheir Hammad, Lemon and Poetri all appeared on the HBO series and will be taking their poetry to Broadway.  The selected poets will speak on a variety of topics, and were selected based on their performances on HBO.   

Def Jam & EA Sports Hook Up Hip-Hop Video Game

All you video game heads get ready for “Def Jam Vendetta”, the new fighting game coming from Def James and EA Sports.  The new game will feature music from Def Jam artists like Ludacris and Redman.  The game is based on underground fight clubs and will include 45 characters. Other games from EA Sports like “NBA Live 2003” also show a big hip-hop influence by featuring songs from artists like Snoop and Busta Rhymes on the games’ soundtracks.
