TLC Dropping New Album
TLC
is home in Atlanta this week filming the first video from their
upcoming album 3D. Dave Meyers will be directing the video for “Girl
Talk”, which expects to pay homage to late TLC member Lisa “Left
Eye” Lopes. 3D drops on November 12th, which is also the same day
the group is being honored with a parade and concert for “TLC Day”
in Atlanta.
Scarface Prepping New Joint & Greatest Hits Collection
Even though The Fix is doing quite well currently, Scarface shows
that he’s still hungry as he braces for the release of his Greatest
Hits album. The CD is hitting stores today, and features some of the
Houston MC’s best tracks like “Smile” and “Mr. Scarface”. The joint
also includes a new unreleased track, “Love & Friendship”. If that’s
not enough, Face plans to work almost exclusively with the one of
the Roc’s super producers Kanye West for his next album. Scarface is
keeping very busy, working on a new Facemob joint, and playing the
executive role behind Ludacris’ new joint on Def Jam South. Both
albums should be out within the next few months.
Man Stabbed to Death at Nellyville Show
A 30-year-old man died due to stab wounds he received while
attending the Nelly/Cash Money show in San Diego last Friday. A
27-year-old man was also stabbed during the same brawl, and remains
hospitalized. Two men are currently in custody on murder and
attempted murder charges. Like KRS One said, we gotta “stop the
violence in hip hop”.
Shade Sheist Getting Shady Airplay
Shade Sheist’s first single “Money Owners” has been getting crazy
radio love in Sheist’s hometown of L.A. Power 106 blasted the single
almost 400 times during a five-week period, and came under fire for
it in a recent L.A. Times article. The report alleges that Emmis
Communications, which owns the label that released Sheist’s album,
has been hyping the song to promote album sales. This borders on
payola, which is the illegal practice of paying radio stations to
play certain songs. Power 106 exec Damion Young produced Sheist’s
album under the alias Damizza. Despite the hometown love Shade has
been getting, his record Informal Introduction has only moved 10,000
units during its first month out.
