Snoop Gets “Pimp Slapp’d” With Lawsuit
The D-O double gizzle was hit with a lawsuit over the answering machine message used on “Pimp Slapp’d” from Snoop’s latest album. “Pimp Slapp’d” is a dis track that takes verbal shots at Suge Knight, Kurupt, and Xzibit. The man whose voice was used without his permission, only goes by John Doe and claims he fears retaliation from Suge. The lawsuit is for an undisclosed amount and also seeks to remove the phone message from all future copies of Snoop’s Paid Tha Cost To Be Tha Boss.

Damon Dash Arrested
Dame Dash ran into trouble with the law for “absconding with a subject child” after he allegedly threatened to move his son to California. Dame’s baby momma Linda Williams said that their 11-old son brought weed to school because he was unhappy about Dame smoking. The sixth grader showed the herb to his teacher, and now faces drug possession charges. Dame was released after appearing in court, and will go to trial on April 3rd.

DMX Denied Entry To Canada…Again
I dunno if X is gonna make it to Canada before he retires, but at least he’s trying. DMX had to cancel another show north of the border after Canadian officials denied him entry into the country. The government cited the war with Iraq and security concerns as reasons for the denial. Currently, there is no word on when X is coming to the Northwest.

Fabolous Faces Another Gun Charge
Fab caught his 3rd case of the year after being arrested for possession of a loaded semi-automatic firearm. Fab was set to perform at an NYC club when bouncers found the loaded 9 on his bodyguard. The NYPD was called and Fab was taken in along with his entire entourage after no one would admit to owning the gun. Fab plead not guilty to all charges.

Queen Latifah Hit With $15 Million Suit
Actress/entrepreuneuer/rapper (does she still rap?) Queen Latifah has been enjoying big screen success lately. After earning an Oscar nomination for “Chicago”, Latifah’s latest movie “Bringing Down The House” has earned over $83 million to date. However, New York lawyer Marie Flaherty claims her screenplay was ripped off by Latifah (the film’s executive producer) and other people involved with the movie. Flaherty wrote “Amoral Dillema”, which is about a lawyer who hooks up with a female prisoner online, which is very similar to the plot for “Bringing Down The House”. Flaherty filed a $15 million lawsuit in Federal court in Manhattan.

The Life & Times Of 50 Cent
50 is looking to sell his memoirs for somewhere in the “high six figures” to the rights to his life story. The book would include 50’s biography and also feature un-released poems and pictures. The book will be tentatively slated for a Christmas-time release.

8Ball & MJG Sue Suave House
Ball & MJG are suing their former label over violating a settlement between the parties. Suave House CEO Tony Draper never paid the group royalties for their Lay It Down album and even agreed to release 4 more 8Ball & MJG albums with indy distributor Koch. Draper was supposed to pay the back royalties and give the group 6 months notice if he intends to release new material. 8Ball & MJG are said to be seeking $2 million in damages.
