“Addictive” Costly for Dre &
Aftermath
Indian composer
Bappi Lahiri won a court order preventing further sales of
“Addictive” from Truth Hurts until Lahiri is listed on the songs’
credits. The judge ruled that the songs’ producer, DJ Quik,
illegally sampled portions of the song “Thoda Resham Lagta Hai”
(Indian for “Don’t Bite My Shit”…na I’m just playin’). No dollar
amount was given, but the outcome could cost Aftermath a whole lotta
paper.

Russell Simmons Urging Boycotts
Russell and his
Hip-Hop Network Summit are planning major boycotts on Pepsi and
other corporations. The planned boycotts come after Pepsi recently
tapped the Osbournes for a commercial that debuted during the Super
Bowl. Now we all know some of the antics that Ozzie has pulled in
the past, so what makes him so different from Ludacris? Luda’s ad
was dropped after Bill O’Reilly suggested a boycott of Pepsi due to
his profane lyrics. The boycotts are set to start February 12th.
I like Coke better anyway.
Haystack Challenges Benzino To $1
Million Battle
According to
allhiphop.com, Def Jam South’s Haystack challenged Ray Benzino to
battle over a million dollar purse. The challenge is in response to
an article in the March issue of The Source, in which Haystack is
labeled an “infiltrator”. Stack says he’ll battle Benzino anywhere,
anytime. You know ‘Zino has the money, so let’s see if steps up and
accepts the challenge.
Ice-T Forced To Pay Child Support
Ice’s baby mama
drama is gonna cost him $4000 a month. DNA testes confirmed that 27
year-old Linda Marie Sanchez has a 15-month old boy with the
rapper/actor. Sanchez and her lawyer were originally seeking 8G’s a
month, which could be awarded pending court. Ice was probably on
some G.L.G.B.N.A.F.T. ish, when he should’ve been thinking no glove,
no love.
Bad Boy Records Finds New Home
Diddy done it
again. Puff’s Bad Boy label is now part of the Universal Music
Group. The deal is said to be in the $100 million ballpark, and
Puff will retain 100% ownership of the Bad Boy catalog and artists.
Universal will distribute, market and promote Bad Boy releases.
First up should be new joints from New Edition, 8Ball & MJG, and
Dream.
