VIRGO 2004: by Chukundi Salisbury DJ Tony Touch (left) and Seattle's DJ Supreme "Blacks folks can't go anywehere without some problems!!" That was certainly NOT the case at the Annual Virgo Party this past Friday, Sept. 17. The 13th installment of the event was held without incident with over 1800 people in attendance at Club Premier in downtown Seattle. Motorola was the title sponsor for the event and marked the first time a major corporation has gotten involved. "It's obvious to us that Seaspot.com has its finger on the pulse of Seattle's Urban Community," said a representative from Motorola, "We are please with the turn out and look forward to doing more in Seattle". The event was also sponsored by Definition Marketing, Sea-Sick Records, and X104.5 FM. For more information on the event or Seaspot Media Group go to www.seaspot.com. "Just glad everyone had a great time", said event co-founder and promoter, Chukundi Salisbury, "This is the most Black folks I have seen in a long time!" While nearly every club shooting, stabbing, or other incident seems to find its way into Seattle's mainstream press, it is rare that any event that is geared towards young African Americans gets any coverage. The event, also billed as the Seaspot Magazine Anniversary Party, featured NYC's DJ Tony Touch and is known for drawing large crowds and regional celebrities.
"Thanks for enforcing the Dress Code," said several party goers, including Charlie Dillion, "It's nice to have at least one major event per year that we can dress for."
